Rockin' the karaoke
I went to a friend's birthday party last night, and after everyone had a few adult beverages, the karaoke machine came out. A few brave souls got up there and sang karaoke staples such as "Our House" by Madness and "The Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston.
I never made a go of it. I just didn't feel the house had the proper acoustics to spotlight the rich range of my signing voice. Also, "Dream Weaver" was not available.
The last time I karaoked -- yeah, I know that's not a verb -- anything was in 1995, when a friend and I sang most of the "Grease" soundtrack at a party we hosted in Arizona.
The best way to describe our performance?
"Loud."
The next day, our apartment complex gave us a warning about disturbing the peace.
