Dining with the dogs
The Dallas City Council voted this afternoon to allow dogs to join their owners at restaurants. It's only for restaurants with outdoor patios, but still, wow.
My dogs believe this is a dream come true, but they won't be going to any restaurants with me. One reason for going out to eat is so I can escape their constant barking at me while I'm eating. Also, they would probably end up wrapping their leashes around my chair and nearly hanging themselves.
But other people will undoubtedly take advantage of this. So it's probably just a matter of time before a dog breaks from its leash and nabs somebody's food off a table. Watch out ... dogs won't settle for the doggie bag.

I am amazed that anyone would approve dogs dining on the patio of a restaurant. I don't object to the dogs if they don't use the patio or common ground for a bathroom, but they said the restaurants would have to wash down the patio every 30 minutes. It would be continuously wet....WET? I thought we had a drought situation going on in this area. I can't keep my shrubs and trees watered and alive, and my water bill has gone up considerably, so explain to me the rationale of accommodating dog owners by unnecessarily using scarce water best used for more important purposes. What about conserving water so we can drink it or shower?
