Squirrels in space?

Jed Carlson/APNASA set to blast off with squirrel derby

That's a true headline. First question: Will there be a squirrel doing a space walk?

Relax, squirrel defenders. The cute little critters we all know, love and attempt to avoid with our car tires will not be zooming into space. In this case, NASA refers to the North American Squirrel Association, which will hold its sixth annual squirrel derby and dinner next week.

But here's the bad news for the squirrels, as detailed in this story:

"Everyone is invited to participate whether a hunter or not. Wisconsin small game regulations and bag limits apply. Squirrels can be harvested from anywhere in North America."

Squirrels of America, if you're hoping not to be "harvested," feel free to hide out in my backyard. My dogs can't jump very high, so just stay about five feet above the ground and you'll be safe.
