China: The leader in "quashing"

China is a on a mission to quash a "grave social problem."

Surprisingly, that grave social problem is not defined as "freedom." It's actually Internet addiction, which the Chinese government has decided could harm its youth. The government is probably right, because the Internet is often seen as a portal to free thinking and individuality.

And porn, of course. But please don't ruin my my moment of feeling important.

This story details one of the in-patient rehab clinics. Consistent with China's longstanding policy of valuing human rights, one clinic includes counseling, military discipline, drugs, hypnosis and mild electric shocks.
