Fast Times at the Oscars

APA friend points out that Forest Whitaker is now the second Best Actor winner launched by the movie we all knew was packed with Oscar potential:

Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Sean Penn, aka Jeff Spicoli, won for his role in the 2003 movie Mystic River.

So who's next from Fast Times? Could it be Jennifer Jason Leigh, who has had a pretty nice career? Or maybe it will be Judge Reinhold, trying to revive a career that includes the Oscar-ignored movie Hermie & Friends: Stanley the Stinkbug Goes to Camp.

Or perhaps it could Phoebe Cates, who hasn't been in a movie since 2001. Who knows ... maybe the sequel to Drop Dead Fred is in the works.

Actually, there have been 3 Best Actors come out of Fast Times. Don't forget about Nicolas Cage, who won for "Leaving Las Vegas" in 1996 and appeared in Fast Times under his real name of Nicolas Coppola. He was one of Brad's (Reinhold) friends and appears in the scene where they all stand in line for their schedules on the first day of school.

I hate to recount your numbers, but Nicholas Cage had a small role in 'Fast Times...' also. He won the Best Actor Oscar for 'Leaving Las Vegas'.
