Tennis with a very unusual racket
My 2-year-old son, Cooper, wants to play tennis. He knows that I go and play once in a while, and he wants to get out on the court.
I told him he could start taking lessons at age 3 if he promises to be a prodigy that will make lots of money so I can retire at age 50. He agreed.
Cooper doesn't have a racket yet, but he won't let that stop him. He uses household objects such as a spatula, and last night was his best "racket" ever. Right before we were planning to walk across the street, Cooper told me he wanted to play tennis.
I told him we could play over at the park, and five minutes later, with a dozen other parents watching, I was tossing the ball to him so he could take a swing at it.
His racket of choice:
A Dr. Scholl's comfort insole.
I'll probably be hearing from the homeowner's association any time now.
