New year's weight-loss tips

I found a list of weight-loss tips for people like me who have put on a few pounds over the holidays. Exercise, eat soup, don't eat after 7 p.m. I guess those are all good tips, but the one that's easiest to follow is No. 1.

Lose weight with water

According to the doctor who wrote the tips:

Water is essential for everybody - it is also the key to losing weight. By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day.

Then feel the burn as you power walk to the bathroom 10 times a day.

Good luck with your fitness goals. And remember, if you don't start losing weight right away, don't get discouraged. You can always gain a few more pounds and then compete on NBC's "The Biggest Loser" by wearing tight workout clothes and standing half-naked on a scale in front of millions of viewers with TiVo.
