Six Flags wants to serve beer

Is it just me, or is this coaster spinning? (DMN)

From a story in today's Dallas Morning News:

Arlington theme parks Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor may begin selling beer as soon as this spring if the company’s permit is approved.

Good idea?

Well, alcohol and a water park seems like a tremendous combination. Having people getting a little tipsy and then getting in the water. But this is not to help the parks make more money, according to a Six Flags rep.

But ...

More after the jump.

Six Flags, the second-biggest U.S. theme-park operator after Walt Disney Co., has lost money in the last four quarters and has seen its revenue decline as attendance falls and spending on new rides increases.

So maybe money is the reason.

It's good news if you want a beer at the park, and I know most people can handle that responsibly. But serving beer at Six Flags in Arlington could make the line for Titan longer, because a lot of people need a shot of bravery before getting on that one.

Once onTitan, I don't want to know what that tight circle turn at the end of the ride might do to a stomach already sloshing around some beer. Might want to wear a raincoat.
