Yes! Another giant spitting cobra is discovered
A new species of giant spitting cobra, measuring nearly nine feet and possessing enough venom to kill at least 15 people, has been discovered in Kenya.
Pretty scary, huh? Or exciting!
"A new species of giant spitting cobra is exciting and reinforces the obvious -- that there have to be many other unreported species but hundreds are being lost as their habitats disappear under the continued mismanagement of our planet," environmentalist Richard Leakey said in this story.
Yes, I want to preserve all the species. But I'm not sure finding more species like a giant spitting cobra are going to motivate people. Unless we can somehow find a 50-foot alligator and use it to thwart terrorism.

I don't get the logic in that finding a new species "reinforces the obvious -- that there have to be many other unreported species but hundreds are being lost." Why does finding a new one show that others are being lost? Sound like Leaky has a leak in his head.
